NOVEMBER 4, 2013 ST. PAUL, MN - The Certification Board of ASQ announced that Anthony Seifred, Quality Systems Manager for Smyth Companies, has completed the requirements to be named an ASQ-Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence, or ASQ CMQ/OE.
"ASQ provides certification as a way to provide formal recognition to professionals who have demonstrated an understanding of, and a commitment to, quality techniques and practices in their job and career," said John Timmerman, ASQ chair, "This is a great accomplishment, and represents a high level of peer recognition."
Seifred has been at Smyth for seven years, and has spent all of that time in the quality and process improvement areas of the company. He has led or been instrumental in implementing quality and improvement-related initiatives such as Lean Conversion; 6 Sigma; Standard Work; and Kaizen. These efforts have yeilded substantial results, and have helped Smyth Companies remain price competitive over the last several years, which have been challenging financially for many industries. Additionally, Seifred has been supportive of Smyth's sustainability initiatives, such as TLMI L.I.F.E., as well as helping the company pass rigorous third-party certification audits for inspection regimens like A.I.B. and others.
